Hi, I’m Hilda! I’m 6 months old, about 35 pounds, and my foster mom says I’m the sweetest little snuggle bug around. I love life, love people, and love cuddles. I may be considered “special needs,” but really that just means I’m extra special to those who know me best.
I was born with a couple of medical conditions that make me unique:
💧I was born with an ectopic ureter, which basically means the tube that connects my kidney to my bladder wasn’t correctly connected. This caused me to leak urine 24/7, and a lot of it. I had corrective surgery at UGA, however, I did not gain complete continence from surgery. While my leaking is less than it was, I do still leak. Sometimes just drops here and there while walking, and other times, when lying down, sitting or sleeping, it’s a lot more. This is a condition I will have for the rest of my life. I require frequent wiping of my lady bits, pee pads in my crate, frequent baths, and, if in the house, diapers that are swapped out, at a minimum, every few hours.
🍽 I also have esophageal dysmotility, which means the first 1/3 of my esophagus does not work properly, or really much at all. I eat dry kibble ground up and rehydrated with water, formed into meatballs, while standing with my 2 front feet on a step stool. (Yeah, I'm one smart cookie! ) This allows gravity to help me get the food down without choking and regurgitating (which I will do if not in this position). My meals are prepped in advance for ease of forming meatballs at the time of my meals. I eat 3x a day due to my condition. There is no cure.
Both of these conditions are lifelong, but I promise I’ll reward your effort with endless love, devotion, and snuggles. I don’t let my challenges slow me down—I’m playful, happy, smart, and ready to share my big puppy heart with the right family.
