Rosey Leigh - Rescued from a Shelter
Rosey Leigh was pulled from a shelter in July (after being found by the side of the road) where she was high on the euthanasia list due to her age (12 to 13 years) and her medical problems. She was in pretty rough shape. She was infested with fleas, was missing large patches of hair, and her nails were so long they were curling to the side which caused her to stumble when she walked. After a thorough check at the vet, we found out that she was anemic, had low iron, suffered from pneumonia and severe ear infections, had a compressed disc in her spine, a healed fractured jaw, and bad teeth. This girl had a long road ahead of her, but GRRA was committed to helping her. She spent five weeks living at the vet's while her many problems were addressed and, of course, her vet bills were through the roof as GRRA prepared her to have the absolute best life for whatever time she has left.
Rosey Leigh is with a foster mom now and hoping to find her forever family. She is a senior dog, about 12 to 13 years old, but has the spunk of a puppy. She has a very sweet disposition, especially considering the difficulties in her previous life. She is still missing large patches of hair, but it's now growing in, and she has one wonky tooth that sticks out to the side (a result of her fractured jaw) but that does not bother her. She surely seems to appreciate living in a normal home.
