Intake
Team Mission
There are several teams within the Transport department of GRRA. We have the Intake Team who are the first people to meet the dog. This can be from a shelter, from a breeder, a vet, and an owner who surrenders.
The Intake transport must always be aware that every dog they meet can potentially be a flight risk due to them being scared, the dogs can’t all show fear so when handling the dogs on the initial intake it does take experience to make sure that the whole process goes smoothly
There is also what we call the retriever Taxi team - this team of volunteers will generally transport dogs that the Rescue is already familiar with such as a foster dog that may need to visit the vet and the Foster is actually unable to take the dog so the retriever Taxi volunteer will pick up the dog at the Foster ‘s home take the dog to the vet for either a drop off appointment or an appointment where they will then return the dog back to the Foster, we also use this team if we need to get any dogs to our meet and greet day which is usually the third Sunday of the month and also can transport dogs from the Foster to meet the potential family.
