Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta™, the original Golden & Labrador Retriever Rescue in Atlanta, is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers that have been left in animal shelters. Started in 1991, Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta™ is registered with the State of Georgia and is licensed by the State Agriculture Department as an animal shelter and rescue group. Additionally, the Internal Revenue Service has granted Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta™ a federal income tax exemption under section 501(c)3.

Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta™ (GRRA™) is wholly supported by charitable, tax deductible donations, under 501(c)3.

There are no paid officers or members within GRRA™. Volunteers staff the myriad of tasks it takes to run the complex day-to-day operations of dog rescue.

Intake coordinators and their staff, working closely with Georgia county animal shelters, and occasionally in neighboring States, travel far and wide to save Goldens and Labs, which have found themselves in shelters.

Foster Home Coordinators organize a network of volunteer Foster Homes who generously provide the care and love these dogs need. Whether the dogs are strays, abandoned, hungry, abused, or injured GRRA tends to their needs before they are adopted. Each dog is given a complete vet check, all required shots, and any other medical treatment necessary. Other medical treatment might be for Heartworms, repair of broken bones, and surgeries to correct a variety of ailments.

Adoption Consultants and Coordinators manage the applicants wishing to adopt one of the available dogs. They conduct interviews with the applicants and arrange for home checks. They will always be close during an Adoption Day.

Home Check volunteers travel to the various homes of applicants wishing to adopt. Their mission is to assure a good environment for the dog.

A staff of other volunteers manage a variety of necessary tasks; administrative, financial, transportation, medical, technology, advertising, fundraising, events, Adoption Day help, and on and on.

GRRA™ is made up of members of your community, from all over Georgia, and from all walks of life. Our mission is to rescue Golden and Labrador Retrievers and provide them with a new beginning, a forever home.
